How St Mary’s collects, uses and protects your personal information.
St Mary’s Syro-Malabar Mission, Newcastle (“we”, “us”, the “parish”) is a Syro-Malabar Catholic community at 262 Sandgate Road, Shortland NSW 2307. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect personal information when you use our website, My Parish portal and parish services.
We collect only what we need to serve our parish community, for example when you:
We use personal information to run parish life: to communicate with families, organise sacraments, catechism and events, keep attendance records, respond to enquiries and meet our safeguarding and legal obligations. We do not sell personal information.
We share information only where needed, such as with our diocese for sacramental records, or with trusted service providers who help us deliver our website, email and online payments. Those providers may only use the information to provide their service to us, or as required by law.
We take extra care with information about children and young people. It is used only for catechism, sacramental preparation, events and safeguarding, and is accessible only to authorised parish staff and volunteers.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access, and to keep it only as long as it is needed. No online system is completely secure, so please take care with your own account details.
Under the Australian Privacy Principles you may ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or ask how we have handled it. If you have a concern, please contact us and we will respond as quickly as we can.
Our website uses cookies to work properly and to understand how it is used. You can change your browser settings to block cookies, but some features may not work as intended.
