Faith formation for our children

Catechism is the cornerstone of faith education for children and young people at St Mary’s Syro-Malabar Mission, Newcastle.

Growing in faith together

Our catechism program nurtures spiritual growth by teaching the core beliefs, traditions and practices of the Syro-Malabar Church. Through age-appropriate lessons, prayer and preparation for the sacraments, children build a strong foundation in their Catholic faith.

Our catechists

Guided by dedicated catechists, many of whom are active members of our community, our classes also emphasise moral values, community service and living out the Gospel in everyday life. We strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where young learners can grow closer to God, understand their faith deeply and build lifelong connections within the Church.

Our mission

Our mission is to prepare our young people not only for the sacraments, but to become faithful, active members of the Church who carry forward the rich heritage of the Syro-Malabar tradition in the Newcastle region and beyond.
